DAMN!!!

Today was one of those trying days. Today my family buried my oldest sister, Fayerina. Damn, is all i could initially think to say. It was like the word 'Damn' was on repeat in my brain.

As i begun to think about this, i realized that often after a tragedy or the loss of a loved one that is often my/our response. A one word summation of all of the pain, hurt, anger or sorrow that we often feel as both individuals and as a people.

"God Damn Mississippi!!!"

Within the last few months I've loss my grandmother, who was 98 yrs old and still as strong mentally and spiritually as ever. The matriarch of the family.

Damn, seems to sum up our life story and history in this kounty. i know that's been my life story.

Damn the shit we got to deal with, to tolerate, to confront, to survive. The oppression, the repression, the aggression and genocide disguised as amerikkkan democracy. A story of sacrifice and struggle.

In December of 2018, i was kicked out of the Indiana Dept. of Corrections and sold off to the Virginia Dept. of Corrections. Shipped out here to this neo-confederate state where the stinch of slavery still lingers like an intoxicating odor of rotting flesh.

Shipped out here away from my family and support structure in an attempt to further isolate and neutralize me and my politics. I'm sitting in prison with a sentence that amounts to a life sentence or death sentence at my age.

What is it about my politics or organizing capabilities that the state of Indiana fear? Is it the ability to expose and shed light on the inhumane and oppressive conditions that exist throughout the state? What are they trying to hide? Or is it the ability to nurture and cultivate fertile seeking minds? Is it the ability to reawaken the sleeping dead? Oppressive power always fear an awakened oppressed.

Could it be that the New Afrikan Liberation Collective (NALC) in concert with other revolutionary formations throughout the state has begun to not only mobilize the people, but has begun to establish solid links, structures and institutions in various communities throughout the state...from Gary to Evansville? Oppressive power will concede nothing without a demand.

What do you say about a system of govt that fear the govern having knowledge of its oppression? What do you say about a system that fear the oppressed or in this case, prisoners having access to books containing wisdom, knowledge and understanding?
